A single, if not spectacular goal, from Robert Koren earned Hull all three points in Nick Barmby’s first game in charge leaving Posh rueing their missed chances in a game that they should have had in the bag in the opening minutes.
Ahead of the game Darren Ferguson’s selection raised a few eyebrows as Paul Taylor and Scott Wootton were dropped to the bench and joined by Nicky Ajose who was making his first return since the opening day of the season. Joe Newell and Daniel Kearns were drafted into midfield …

With all the excitement of Christmas and the FA Cup over it’s time for things to get serious in the league now. However this week’s opponents Hull City will be no pushover as after making a steady start to the season they now sit in the final play-off position aiming to return to the Premier League after two seasons away.
This week I caught up with Ian Waterson co-editor of City Independent – the Hull City fanzine to get his opinions ahead of the game.
Our very own Aaron Mclean signed for …

Luckily I don’t have to write this very often but Posh let themselves down today. A combination of a lack of inspiration, some sloppy passing and very little possession in the second half resulted in a very poor performance from the boys in blue as once again they slipped out of the FA Cup in the third round at the hands of Premier League opposition. Good job no one was watching, oh wait the whole of the national media was there.
But credit where credit is due Sunderland were just more …

The magic of the FA Cup is set to return this weekend and for the third season running Posh will face Premier League opposition. This time round its Sunderland who will be travelling to London Road with the match set to be a tasty encounter.
Since the appointment of Martin O’Neill Sunderland are now in the form of their season standing undefeated in four games. Things for Posh are also looking rosy as they stand five games undefeated with performances ever improving.
With only 25 league positions separating the two teams Posh …

A late penalty from Marlon King cruelly ruined what would have been the perfect to start to the New Year in a game that Posh led after just 30 seconds.
However it’s now five games undefeated for the Posh as they bagged a valuable point against one the Championship’s big teams.
Darren Ferguson’s squad was down to its bare bones for this game with a lengthy injury list of first team regulars youth players were drafted into the team for the second game running. Tommy Rowe started at left back after Tom …

Without a doubt 2011 has been one of the best seasons in Peterborough United’s history. London Road has become a fortress and despite jumping up a league in the summer and losing some familiar names in the transfer market the squad is showing no signs of slowing down. Games featuring the team have averaged 3.63 goals and although a few of them have been due to a leaky defence performances have been improving as the year goes on. Here are the highlights of the memorable year:

The year may not have …

With the help of a little bit of luck and some solid defending Peterborough United finally bagged their first clean sheet of the season and ended a run of five games without a win.
This was far from an easy game though, despite being bottom of the table Coventry were fighting right from the start and will be cursing their luck after a blatant penalty decision went against them.
This was a game that Posh had to win. Coventry were rock bottom of the Championship and without a win since October. Following …

Over the past few seasons Coventry City have found themselves in trouble.  In 2008 the side narrowly escaped relegation to League One by beating Charlton on the last day of the season, since then they have always found themselves close to the drop zone and this season things have got even worse as the team prop up the Championship.
It not only on the pitch where things have gone wrong, behind the scenes board members have been coming and going like there no tomorrow fuelling rumours that the club is in …

There is some sort of unwritten rule in football that means players will always make an impact to a game when they are returning to their former club. Today it was Lee Tomlin’s turn to make a name for himself by rescuing a goal and a point for Posh as he made his return to his former stomping ground, the King Power stadium.
It’s fair to say that since making a move to London Road last summer Tomlin has had somewhat of a bumpy ride at Peterborough. Playing a pivotal part …

On 14 occasions this season Peterborough United have come from behind in a game to grab some points. However going 3-0 down was pushing their luck a little too far as Posh slumped to their second defeat in five days.
To be fair Posh only have themselves to blame for this one, there were just far too many mistakes but the game was an emotional rollercoaster.
The match had been hyped up as one to watch as both Posh and Barnsley are known for their passing game. Also both teams were glued on …
